Internal Competitions:
Four internal club competions take place each year. These invite prints (Black & White, and Colour) and Projected
Images. Two entries per member are allowed in each section. Prints should be mounted. (A standard size of mount is 40
x 50 cms, but members may sumbit smaller mounts)
NOTE THAT FROM 2009 YEAR PROJECTED IMAGES MAY ONLY BE SUBMITTED AS DIGITAL.
If submitting digital entries then each member should submit a CD containing only the competition entries and
no other files. If more than two files are contained on a CD, then the competition secretary may select two files at
random to go forward.
File names should include the membership number followed by the image title (e.g. 026_EarlyMorningLight.jpg) These files
should submitted as jpegs in accordance with the guidance given elsewhere in this web site. (See
digital projection).
NOTE: Please use three digits for your membership number. For example use 026 and not 26. This will help images to
display in the correct order.
NOTE: We ask that members who enter internal Society digital competitions will allow the Society
to use their images for this web site or for other external competitions that the Society may enter. Copyright of photographs
will always remain with the photographer. We will assume that you are agreeable to this unless you advise us otherwise.
Annual Competitions:
The STURROCK CHALLENGE takes place near the start of each season and is for a set of photographs
on a specific theme. For 20010 the theme is:
"Location, Location, Location"
A set of three photographs is invited. These may be as colour prints, mono prints or as projected images (digital only).
The three images should be taken in one or more of the following locations.
1. Dysart Harbour (and
immediate environs)
2. Tentsmuir (to include Kinshaldy Beach)
3. Crombie and/or Monikie Country Parks
All submitted photographs should be in the same format (e.g. three digital files is acceptable, but two digital files
and one transparency is not). See notes above for digital submissions.
The KODAK CUP is open to pupils from local schools as well as St Andrews Photographic Society members.
Entrants must submit three prints on a unifying theme. They may be in colour or monochrome, traditional or digital. The printing
must be the entrant's own work.
External Competitions:
The Society participates in a number of competitions each season with other clubs in the local area and in SPF
competitions. As these are competitions between clubs and not between individuals, the External Competition Secretary, assisted
by a selection panel, decides on the Society's entry. Members are encouraged tomake their prints and slides available for
selection.
These external competitons include:
FOUR-WAY COMPETITION between Dundee, Perth, Kinross and St Andrews (8 colour prints, 8 monochrome prints, 8 slides per
club).
INTER-FIFE COMPETITION between Cupar, Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy and St Andrews (8 colour prints, 8 monochrome
prints, 8 slides per club).
THREE-WAY SLIDE COMPETITION between Cupar, Kinross and St Andrews (15 slides per club with a maximum of three from any
member)
SPF PROJECTED IMAGE CHAMPIONSHIP - an annual slide and projected image competition between Scottish
clubs (two rounds, each with 8 slides per club).
