A N N U A L  E X H I B I T I O N

This will be held in the Byre Theatre, St Andrews, from Thursday 8th May until Saturday 2nd June 2008

The Opening reception is at 6:45 pm for 7.00 pm on Wednesday 7th May when the Wilson Quaich for the best print will be presented.

All members and a guest are invited to the reception. All members are entitled to submit prints for exhibition, and if they wish, for sale.

Entry Rules

  • Prints should be “recent” work.
  • Monochrome and/or colour prints up to a total of four prints.
  • The prints must be mounted on card measuring 40 x 50 cms. Matt mounts are recommended to prevent damage from the glass during framing. Slight (2-3mm) variations can be tolerated.
  • These should be numbered on the back 1-4 in order of preference. As Exhibition space limits the total to be hung, the maximum possible from each member without selection will be hung: thereafter the selection committee will decide on lower preference prints.
  • The closing date for entries is 7:00 pm Friday 25th April, to be handed in to Margaret Coull, Abbey Cottage, Abbey St, St Andrews (01334 473727)
  • There is an entry fee of £5.00, this should accompany the entry, or a cheque sent to the treasurer: A. Ramsay, 22 Pickford Crescent, Cellardyke, Anstruther, Fife KY10 3AL
  • The back of each print should have the following information*
    1. Preferential order number 1-4
    2. Title
    3. Name of Author (not membership number)
    4. Address
    5. Contact telephone number
    6. State “For Sale” or “Not For Sale
    7. State Price unmounted*
    8. Also if appropriate, marked “limited edition”.

Pricing. The Byre takes 33% + VAT.  Basic minimum recommendations are £25 un-mounted.

This year, to try to ease the problem of selling, it is suggested that photographers wishing to sell provide two copies of each photograph – one to be mounted for framing and hanging, the second to be un-mounted to be kept at The Byre for selling. The Photographic Society has purchased an A3 folder for storing these prints for sale. In this way it is hoped that purchasers can remove the print un-mounted on the day of sale.

* Please complete an entry form when submitting your prints.

These are available from David Ogden or Margaret Coull.
